JAY BLACK: COMEDIAN, WRITER, AND PRODUCER
Trading a high school English classroom for a microphone, Jay Black has built a multi-faceted entertainment career as a nationally touring headliner, a decorated college performer, and a hit television screenwriter.
Stand-Up Success
Since leaving his teaching career, Jay has become one of the most reliable and dynamic acts in comedy. He has headlined premier stages across the country, from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to the Tropicana in Atlantic City, while sharing the stage as a regular opener for comedy legends like Kevin Nealon. Beyond the club circuit, Jay dominated the college market, performing at nearly 1,000 universities nationwide. His razor-sharp wit and unmatched crowd work earned him the prestigious title of College Comedian of the Year an unprecedented three times, as well as College Performer of the Year. His stand-up has also taken him overseas, where he toured extensively through Europe as the host of the US Army's "I Am Strong" tour.
Film & Television
Off the stage, Jay has carved out a highly successful career as a screenwriter and producer. Partnering with his lifelong friend, director Brian Herzlinger, Jay quickly transitioned from a holding deal with Summit Entertainment to producing a string of successful feature films.
His notable writing, producing, and acting credits include the hit romantic comedy Meet My Valentine starring Scott Wolf, the holiday favorite Love Always, Santa starring Marguerite Moreau, and gripping network thrillers like Psycho Storm Chaser.
Never one to slow down, Jay launched his own film production company during the pandemic, continuing to write, produce, and star in a steady slate of movies for both television and theatrical release. Whether he is destroying a heckler in a comedy club or writing the next great network movie, Jay Black is a proven, multi-hyphenate talent.
